WINDOWS RESTORATION

We offer a full and comprehensive restoration of traditional timber sash windows. This complete overhaul of windows and box frames includes a number of steps as follows:

Timber Repairs

We can carry out timber repairs to both sashes and frames of your historic windows.

Glass and Putty

We provide a complete galzing service which includes a replacement of dated putty which seals the windows and any cracks from water and wet rot.

Painting

A complete painting of the window to your desired specification

Functionality of Windows

When refitting the sashes into the frames we ensure full functionality by replacing any faulty or damaged wheels (pulleys) as well as adjusting weights as required for appropriate counter-balance. We replace cords with new cotton twill cords with a nylon core for long durability and we fit new ironmongery such as brass catches, handles and sash eyes.

Draught-Proofing

We install a complete draught-proofing system which includes the fitting of new timber parting beads and new staff beads which are fitted with draught-proofing brushes. A further brush is inserted where the two windows meet (meeting rail) The draught-proofing system we use is tailor-made for traditional sash windows and ensures a complete draught seal around both sashes.

On completion of a full restoration job your windows will be fully functional and fit for purpose.
