Roof Terrace Transformation
Brief:
The brief from the client was to transform this space from an unhabitated area to a clean modern space that would be used all year long.
The first plan of action was to remove old times from the floor and to repair cracks and leaks in the asphalt roof. For the decking we first installed 4×2 treated timbers floating and sitting on 12mm rubber pads, this insured the asphalt below was not impacted. The decking used was a solid 20mm grey composite deck , this was chosen to eliminate any chance of cracking from frost and ice in the winter months. The client had asked if we could incorporate a storage area with the same lines as the decking, so the decking was used to make the doors for the storage unit.

There was also an unused space between the adjacent apartment that we transformed into another usable bright storage area .
The use of clear polycarbonate sheeting ensured that the storage area would still allow the sunlight into the interior of the apartment.

We then designed bespoke glass posts and reinforced awning brackets to withstand the harshest of weather conditions.
We used 13.5 mm toughened laminate glass for a safe sleek look combined with the stainless steel posts.

Next we installed the roof awning with high tensile metal brackets.
